foodora and Starship Technologies continue to innovate the last-mile experience with the expansion of their autonomous robot delivery fleet. Starting today, the service opens to an additional 13,000 households in the Stockholm region of Solna.
Stockholm, Sweden (17 June 2025): After three months of successful operations in Södermalm, foodora and Starship are expanding robot deliveries further across Stockholm. To begin with, a fleet of delivery robots will begin delivering groceries from foodora Market Solna, offering customers a fast, sustainable and high-tech delivery alternative. The expansion is part of foodora’s broader commitment to smart urban logistics and environmentally friendly last-mile solutions.
The delivery robots are developed by Starship Technologies, the global leader in autonomous delivery. This partnership between foodora and Starship combines advanced robotics with real-time logistics to deliver food and everyday essentials with minimal environmental impact.
“We’re thrilled to bring our robot delivery service to more communities. Solna are dynamic urban areas, and a perfect match for this type of innovation. Our goal is to make everyday life easier for customers – while also reducing emissions and relieving pressure on traffic in busy zones,” says Daniel Gustafsson Raba, Director of Logistics.
“We’re proud to work with foodora to bring our delivery robots to more parts of Sweden. I’m sure Solna residents will enjoy our robots as much as other communities around the world, where families name them, children wave to them and customers benefit from a safe and helpful way to get their groceries delivered in minutes. We’re showing that smart, sustainable delivery can also be fun and friendly,” says Ahti Heinla, Co-founder and CEO of Starship Technologies.
The autonomous robots are equipped with advanced sensors and navigation systems to safely operate on sidewalks and pedestrian areas. Customers wishing to order groceries delivered by robot can do so from foodora market Solna in the foodora app. They simply place their order as usual through the app, then they are notified when their robot arrives.
With this expansion, foodora continues to lead the way in shaping the future of fast, sustainable delivery in Sweden.
